It all started with an idea.
Now in its 8th year, Le Refuge Farm is operating from two locations in Yellowknife, downtown on 49A Avenue and in the Kam Lake area. We have close to 6000 square feet (yes, we counted!) of raised beds, garden rows, small unheated greenhouses, rock gardens and containers because of our location on uneven ground and bedrock. We grow food for ourselves and share the rest of the bounty at the Yellowknife Farmers Market every Tuesday evening. We also sell to local restaurants and caterers. We grow more than 20 vegetables, herbs and berries but more importantly, we grow hope and inspiration. Le Refuge Farm also processes a number of value-added products with vegetables we grow and cheese we make with pasteurized store-bought milk.
NEW THIS SUMMER!
Le Refuge Farm welcomes Alex Lynch as a Mentee under the New Entrant Mentorship Program. Alex will be learning all aspects of our work here at the farm. We are grateful for funding received from the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment for this program.
We have gone carless and will deliver our weekly fare in specially-designed bike trailers pulled by our bikes.
